Certificate in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling from CCE

If you’re considering a substance abuse counselor certification, you want to make sure you’re getting the best program available. Why is the certification from CCE at Assumption the best option for you?

Subject Matter. When you enter the substance abuse counseling program, you’ll take courses that directly relate to a career in the field. There are no other courses required, which means you’ll stay focused on the subject matter you come to school for. Courses center around counseling techniques, ethics, and drug-specific studies. The program consists of seven courses and one internship. You’ll finish the program with the classroom knowledge and hands-on experience you need. And because it’s a 30 credit program, you can finish quickly and kick off your career!

Opportunities for Continuing Education. You can get a job as a substance abuse counselor after receiving your certification. However, if you ever decide you’d like to go back to school for a bachelor’s degree in Human Services and Rehab Studies, the credits you earn during your certification will count toward the degree, meaning you won’t have to start over. You can also choose to enter the bachelor’s degree program with a concentration in alcohol and substance abuse.

Multiple Paths. The coursework in the CCE at Assumption certification program is designed to fulfill the educational requirements for multiple licensure paths. Students who complete the program will be eligible to sit for either the Certified Alcohol/Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) licensure or the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Licensure of Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADCII and LADC Assistant). It is approved by the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC), the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for Licensure of Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADCII & LADCA), and the Massachusetts Board of Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (CADC).
