Internet-based advertising could outpace television by 2018.
Continuing & Career Education (CCE) at Assumption College has introduced an online certificate program in digital marketing which is designed to launch graduates' careers after completing eight highly-focused courses. The 24-credit curriculum will provide practical working knowledge in the crucial areas of search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing (SEM), social media marketing, online analytics, content creation and marketing, and more. It can be completed as a standalone certificate or as a concentration in the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program.
Graduates of the program will differentiate themselves in a field that is continuing to accelerate. Forrester Research projects that spending on digital marketing in the U.S. will nearly double from $57.29 billion dollars to $103.37 billion dollars in a five year period through 2019, fueled by the growth in mobile. By 2018, Internet advertising will be poised to overtake TV as the largest advertising segment.
"Many research studies are confirming the need for qualified talent," said Dennis Braun, director of Assumption College’s Continuing and Career Education department. "A Gartner study undertaken last year found that CEOs ranked digital marketing as the #1 priority for technology investment during the next five years. The challenge for employers is that the field is starving for qualified people to get the work done proficiently."
The curriculum of the new online certificate program was developed by leading professionals and educators in the field in collaboration with Continuing & Career Education at Assumption College. Classes are scheduled to start in August and enrollment is now open.
