Issues involving alcohol and substance abuse (and addictions) are, sadly, making national news in recent months, ranging from the growing heroin crisis in Vermont and Massachusetts to potential new initiatives coming out of Boston to provide improved services to those who need treatment.
A byproduct of the problem is the growing need for trained Alcohol & Substance Abuse counselors, as well as human services providers who understand how to address the issue.

CCE at Assumption College offers the Certificate in Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counseling which prepares students for certification and licensing as an entry-level counselor in Massachusetts and beyond. Credits earned in the certificate program can be applied to the Bachelor's degree in Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies. Students have the choice of taking some or all of the courses online.
